Yummy chocolate shake

Good morning loves!

It’s my day off and I’m currently sitting here enjoying my morning protein shake! I’m not usually a person who enjoys smoothies and shakes for breakfast, however I’m doing a yoga class in about an hour and that way I avoid feeling full and uncomfortable during the class. I’m really excited for this class, it’s the first yoga class I’m attending at my current gym, and it’s been quite awhile since I’ve done any yoga at all, so it’ll be interesting.

It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful day, so I’m going to do my best to be outside today. I really want to play tennis with my boyfriend, neither of us have really placed tennis, but I just really want to try it. Perhaps today would be perfect to do so! We’ll see. He is currently at school having a test exam in physics, so it’ll have to wait to later regardless. I have some errands I want to get done before he comes home, that way we can spend some quality time together this afternoon, hopefully in the sun.

Anyways, I’ll throw in the recipe of my morning shake. I honestly never measure anything when I do this, but I usually use about 1,5 frozen bananas and a scoop of my chocolate mocha protein powder. The liquid I just eye measure, and if the texture is too thick, I’ll just add some more.

  • About 1,5 frozen bananas
  • One scoop of protein powder of choice
  • A little bit of unsweetend soy milk and coconut water (adjust quantity according to wanted texture)

MRM-72226-7Blend until smoot! It’s almost like a chocolate milkshake, which I have no complaints about!

You can use any protein powder of your choice, I’m using a vegan one, the MRM Veggie Elite in the flavor “chocolate mocha”. It’s all right. Honestly, all protein powders I’ve tried has been quite gritty, or powdery rather, which I’m not really a fan of, but for now I’ve just settled with the fact that’s the deal with protein powders. The
chocolate flavor itself is nice, perhaps a little bit too sweet, but it’s fine. Next time I’d like to try a different flavor, maybe strawberry, just because I’ve only had chocolate flavored porting powders in the past. If you have any recommendations for a nice vegan protein powder, just let me know!

Anyways, I’ll go get ready for yoga now! Have a beautiful day!

Namaste!

Setting the day off with positive vibes

Happy Monday!

Oh, Mondays can be though. Today I started the day slightly earlier than I usually do, in an effort trying to make myself wake up earlier so that I can have more of a calm morning routine, rather than waking up and running around the apartment like a manic. Trying to find something to eat, find my outfit of the day,  do my makeup and trying to fit all of this in before I head to work. Starting the day with stress leads to more stress, and considering I’m a person who get stressed easily, I am trying to take responsibility and make some changes to minimize this, and learn techniques to handle it well. I figured if I start the day off with a calm and relaxing morning routine I at least have set a positive vibe for the rest of the day.  I’m not exactly a morning person  either and often need some time to wake up properly before I can be productive. At one point I even had yoga and meditation as a part of my mornings, and even though it meant waking up earlier, I remember how amazing and relaxed I felt. Which is how I want to feel errryday!

IMG_8895I thought I’d share my outfit of the day with you all, even though it’s not anything spectacular. Usually, I love to wear colors, but lately I’ve been really into dressing in black. Even though I try to minimize wearing all black, I do really like how modern, sleek and timeless it looks. Another love at the moment is turtlenecks! Not just are they fashionable, they also keep me warm, which I need because it’s still quite cold here in Bergen. Hopefully, the temperature will soon catch on to the calendar, and I’ll be able to wear my spring jackets! I actually only yesterday packed down my big, cozy and warm fur jacket (faux of course), not necessarily because it was too warm outside to wear it, but I found it to be appropriate considering we’re heading into May this weekend. Crossing my fingers we’ll soon feel proper spring and summer weather for once. Can’t say we’re really feeling this global warming there’s so much talk about.. I know, i know, it’s a serious problem and not a joke, trust me I know. All I’m saying is I want to wear my skirts and shorts and feel the sun on my skin. Without freezing my ass off.

I’ll go and continue watching Bones now, which btw is our current obsession. I’ll leave you with this adorable picture of this adorable cat who so adorably came to say hello during my OOTD photos.IMG_8903

Let me introduce myself..

Hello all lovely people!

Let me introduce myself! My name is Inger Kristin, but I go mostly by the nickname of IK, which I have done for many years. My full name is used in more professional settings, so please, call me IK. Let’s keep it casual, right?

I am soon to be a 22 year old, and I swear Taylor Swift’s “22” will my soundtrack from that moment on, and I’m defiantly not ashamed about it! Proud T Swift fan right here! My favorite Swift album is without a doubt 1989, and I’m positive every album Taylor makes will be better than the previous ones. Dream bestie right there.

My heart goes all warm and fuzzy when I think about how lucky I am to have found my love, my boyfriend of 5 years, Henrik, a beautiful person to share my life with. We have just recently moved in together, which was a long awaited and exciting new chapter in our relationship.

Since I was young I knew I wanted to work with hair an makeup, so at the age of 14 I made a 5year plan to be a professional hairdresser and makeup artist. Last summer, I was finished with my one year makeup course, and had accomplished what I planned all along; to be both a hairdresser and a makeup artist. However, after a while I realized I actually wanted something else, I just didn’t know what. After much back and forth, I made the decision to go back to school, which will be happening this fall, and become a student again. I came to the realization that I am not the same girl I was when I was 14, therefore I don’t have the same interest and aspirations in life as her either.

I am constantly trying the better myself, to be a better person, live a better lifestyle and to be a calm and happier person. I am currently on a journey towards a exclusively vegan lifestyle, which I sometimes find quite difficult, especially in certain situations. In my opinion veganism is the best possible option, for our own health, the wellbeing of the animals, and the earth itself. Our one and only planet cannot bear the amount of animal products twe consume and demand today. And I say one and only, because it’s not like we have any other planets to flee to if we trash this one. I am also in the process of switching all my beauty, bath and home care products to greener, healthier and less chemical filled products. It’s crazy how many toxins we rub on to our skin which then is absorbed into our blood. That cannot be good.

Anyways, that was a little about me and what is currently happening in my life, and these are obviously things I’ll be sharing with you guys here on my personal blog. I’m really excited to get this blog up and running, but I have to say I haven’t quite decided how much fashion and beauty post there will be, but I’m imagining there will be quite a few considering it’s one of my biggest passions.

Well, this turned out to be a significantly longer post than I planned it to be, so I hope I didn’t bore you to sleep. I’ll get going now, see you later!

Namaste!
